IIT-M server down since Wednesday

The email-server of the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT-M) was down with the faculties of the institution not being able to access it.

Sources from IIT-M said that the entire email system was not working since Wednesday morning and the technical team from the Information Technology wing of the college was in the process of fixing the problem. Institute sources further added that the server might have be hacked and technicians were asked to find the reason. 

“The email server at IIT Madras went down and the cause is being investigated. The Institute has a back-up for the email system and will restore the system soon,” IIT-M in a statement said. However, the institution did not mention any reason for the server failure.
