When Asha demanded her money back, Hemnath allegedly refused and instead threatened her of dire consequences. The JJ Nagar police registered a case (Crime No 789/2015) but the case was forwarded to the Central Crime Branch as the amount was above Rs 50 lakh. Now, the endowment document fraud (EDF-II) wing has registered a case and arrested Hemnath.

Hemnath and Chitra got engaged last year, and registered their marriage a few months ago. In the wee hours of December 9, she was found hanging inside a hotel room on the city outskirts. After questioning him or six days, the Nazarethpet police arrested him on the charges of abetting her suicide. The arrest happened a day before he was supposed to appear before the Revenue Divisional Officer for inquiry. Hemnath was later produced for inquiry, and now has been arrested in the second case.
