Health Secy roots for Siddha potion, pills for fighters

With more and more officials and workers in the frontline testing positive for coronavirus, the State Health Secretary has recommended intake of zinc, vitamins and Siddha potions to improve their immunity.

“To develop immunity against COVID-19 infection among the people who serve the public during the present crisis, I am directed to recommend the following drug and herbal powder to police personnel, healthcare workers and others who are COVID 19 duty at high and low risk containment areas,” Health Secretary Beela Rajesh noted in a communication to State DGP JK Tripathy, District Collectors and other relate departments, on Saturday.

Her recommended taking one 150 mg zinc tablet a day for 10 days; one 500 mg vitamin C or multi vitamin tablet a day for 10 days, along with Nilavembu Kudineer and Kabasura Kudineer.

These tablets and herbal powders would boost the immunity and also build resistance against coronavirus infection, besides improving their work performance, she said in the communication. These can be procured from nearby health facilities, the note added.

How to prepare herbal drink

Dissolve 5 gm of Nilavembu or Kabasura powder in 240 ml of water and boil it down to 60 ml. Drink it within 3 hours of preparation before food for one month.

Recommended dosage is 60 ml for adult and 30 ml for children, Beela Rajesh said in the circular.
