Head constable commits suicide

A 43-year-old head constable committed suicide by hanging in the police quarters in Maduranthagam on Sunday.

The deceased was identified as M Sekar, who was the head constable attached to the Thirukulkundram police station. On Sunday night, Sekar went out and did not return for a long time. When family members searched for him, they found him hanging on a tree using a nylon rope near the house. On information, the Maduranthagam police retrieved the body and sent it for post-mortem examination to Maduranthagam GH.


Sources said that Sekar was suffering from ulcer for the past few months and he was not regular for work. He might have committed suicide following the depression due to bad health, the police noted. The Maduranthagam police have registered a case in connection with the suicide.
