The incident happened at a government Tasmac outlet in Vedal village near Chennai-Bangalore National Highway. On Wednesday morning, when the staff came to open the shop, found stock notes, register and bill books scattered outside. On checking further, they found a hole drilled on the backside of the shop through which a person can enter inside.

After the staff informed their higher-ups and the police, Kancheepuram DSP Manimegalai and Kanchi taluk police visited the spot and investigated. Police said the intruders had looted all the bottles and there is no CCTV camera at the shop. Police are trying to trace the robbers with the help of the CCTV cameras on the National Highway.

The outlet is one of the Tasmac shops reporting good sales in Kancheepuram district. However, there are no CCTV cameras despite several attempts to rob the shop in the past few years.
