It was initiated to honour the weavers where the profit from the sale will be used for the education of weaver’s children. “While setting up Kanakadhara, we visited the weavers in Coimbatore. While interacting with them they shared their difficulties like finding sellers to buy the sarees. They also shared with us how they are finding it hard to meet the ends. We decided to start an initiative called Kanakadhara Konnect to support the weavers. A part of Kanakadhara’s profit will solely be used for the education of weaver’s children. We believe this would not only empower the entire family but will ensure a better future. There are many weaving communities in the country and we will be reaching out to them in the coming months,” shares Lavanya.

The entrepreneur says that Kanakadhara is not just an affordable brand but an initiative with sincere effort to bring acknowledgment, respect and empowerment to the weaver’s community. “This is the best way to give back to the weaving community. We wanted to showcase that sarees are not just six-yard drapes; every piece is a canvas that displays the artistic minds and hands of our weavers. Each Kanakadhara product is experimented to provide a unique and individual identity. It is a masterpiece of our weavers’ art work.”
