CHENNAI: The Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC) has announced free travel on city buses (excluding air-conditioned services) for spectators attending IPL 2026 matches at the M A Chidambaram Stadium, said a report by Daily Thanthi.

According to an official statement, passengers holding valid IPL match tickets can travel free of cost on MTC buses for three hours before and three hours after the match.

The initiative aims to ease traffic congestion and encourage the use of public transport on match days. The travel cost has been borne by Chennai Super Kings Cricket Limited.

Special buses and shuttle services will be operated to facilitate smooth travel for spectators. Fans can board buses from various parts of the city by showing their match tickets.

For return travel after the match, special bus services will be available from key points including Anna Square Bus Stand, the temporary bus stand at Island Grounds (Teevathidhal), Chennai University Bus Stop, and Anna Salai near Omandurar Government Hospital. These locations are situated within 500 metres of the stadium.

Additionally, shuttle services will be operated between the Anna Statue on Anna Salai and the stadium to assist spectators.

The MTC has urged the public to make use of these arrangements to ensure hassle-free travel and reduce congestion around the venue.
