Duo kidnaps, relieves one of Rs 15K in Guindy, arrested

Two men who kidnapped a bystander in an autorickshaw from Ekkaduthangal and robbed him of Rs 15,000 were arrested.

The victim Jagannathan of Guduvanchery sells pappad in Ekkaduthangal and the incident happened on September 8 when he was waiting to board MTC bus to Vadapalani. Two men who reached the spot got into an argument with Jagannathan claiming that the money he had is theirs and forced him into an autorickshaw in broad daylight. Later, they dropped him near Olympia Tech Park after robbing him of Rs 15,000 and threatening him against telling anyone. Based on his complaint, Guindy police registered a case and arrested the suspects with the help of CCTV footage. The accused were identified as Manikandan (30) of Alandur and Suresh (26) of St Thomas Mount. The duo was remanded.
