Counselling for TNEA may be delayed

The counselling for students seeking engineering admissions in Tamil Nadu is likely to be delayed as the state government has moved the Supreme Court seeking extension of time for the counselling process beyond July 31.

Anna University sources here on Tuesday said that since the case will be coming up on July 13. So, the counselling will be conducted based on the verdict. More than one lakh students have enrolled for engineering course admission through online. 

The merit list was released last week and the counselling was scheduled for July 11. Since, the counselling for medical seats is expected to be extended till July 15, the TNEA counselling is likely to be conducted after that. 

The counselling for special category candidates was completed last week. Similarly, engineering seats were also allotted to the children of ex-servicemen. Anna University sources further said that the counselling for engineering students will go on till the first week of August. 

For the first time, the counselling will be conducted through online and candidates approach facilitation centres that have been set up by the government in all the districts.
