College girl attempts suicide

A 20-year-old engineering student from Andhra Pradesh attempted suicide by cutting the veins on her hand with a blade at Madhavaram bus terminus on Friday. She was rescued and admitted to a government hospital.

Geetha Madhuri of Nellore district is pursing B Tech at a private engineering college in the city. She recently went to her hometown and returned on Friday. After she arrived at the Madhavaram bus terminus, she went to the public toilet and cut a vein on her left hand using a blade. Women commuters who found her lying unconscious in a pool of blood alerted the police. She was then rushed to the Stanley Medical College Hospital.


Her father Harikrishnan, who reached the city on Friday night, told the police that Geetha was depressed for few weeks now. Geetha told police that no one was behind her suicide bid.
