Class 12 girl dies, friend injured as bike rams into Metro pillar

A Class 12 girl died and her friend got injured after their bike rammed into a pillar of the Alandur Metro on Monday.

The deceased was R Deepika (16) of Mahalakshmi Nagar in Adambakkam and the injured Mohamed Tabik (18), a second-year college student. Police said both of them were friends and on Monday were travelling to Guindy from Adambakkam on a two-wheeler. When near Asarkana Junction, Mohamed Tabik lost control of the vehicle and hit on the pillar of the Metro station. Deepika, who suffered severe injuries, was rushed to a private hospital nearby but was declared brought dead. Mohamed Tabik was admitted to the Rajiv Gandhi government general hospital.

The St Thomas Mount traffic investigation police have registered a case and further inquiry is on.
