Chennai: College student, constable's husband held with LSD stamps meant for NY Eve sale

Further investigation is under way to identify the source of the narcotics and to ascertain whether more people are involved in the network.

CHENNAI: The city police arrested a college student and the husband of a woman police constable in Saidapet for alleged possession of LSD stamps and ganja, meant for distribution to New Year party goers.

The Anti-Narcotics Intelligence Unit (ANIU) of the city police received a tip-off about the movement of narcotics in Saidapet police limits, after which a team was on vigil on Theradi Street near Saidapet railway station.

During the operation, the police questioned and searched two men who were standing with two two-wheelers in a suspicious manner. The search led to the recovery of narcotic substances kept for sale. The officials seized 50 LSD stamps, 9 MDMA tablets, 50 grams of ganja, ganja paste (Malana paste), 2 mobile phones, and 2 two-wheelers.

The arrested persons were identified as Prabhakaran (27) of Saidapet and Harisudha (23) of Selaiyur. Police said Harisudhan is a fourth-year college student, while Prabhakaran is married to a woman constable.

Further investigation is under way to identify the source of the narcotics and to ascertain whether more people are involved in the network.
