CHENNAI: Chief Minister MK Stalin will unveil a statue of Karl Marx on Friday at the Museum-cum-Library campus in Egmore.

The statue has been installed at the Connemara Public Library campus, adjoining the Government Museum, with the objective of spreading the ideas and philosophy of Karl Marx.

The Chief Minister had announced the installation of the statue in the Tamil Nadu Assembly in April 2025, following which the work commenced. After nearly ten months, the statue has been completed and is set to be unveiled.

Leaders and cadres of DMK alliance parties, including the CPM, CPI and VCK, are expected to participate in the event.

It may be recalled that the CPM state executive committee had earlier urged the State government to install a statue of Karl Marx in Chennai.

In a statement, the government described Karl Marx as a renowned German philosopher, socialist thinker and a global visionary whose ideas continue to influence social and political thought worldwide.
