Central-Airport Metro service hit due to track maintenance

Direct Metro train services between Chennai Central and Airport remained temporarily suspended on Sunday morning due to track maintenance work.

An official release said that direct metro train services between Puratchi Thalaivar Dr MG Ramachandran Central Metro to Airport Metro was being suspended temporarily from 7 am to 10 am on Sunday due to track maintenance works. Passengers were requested to deboard and interchange at Alandur to continue their journey towards the Airport.

The Metro train services were operated with a headway of 10 mins in the Blue Line from Washermanpet to Airport via AG -DMS and in the green line from the Central to St Thomas Mount via Koyambedu. However, train services were available from Alandur to Airport at a headway of 20 mins in the upline only. Normal services resumed post completion of the emergency maintenance works, it said.
