Campaigns to resume on Monday

In what seems to be a bizarre development, candidates vying for the Aravakurichy seat seemed to have been permitted to resume their election campaigns on Monday after 6 pm.

The move seems to have come after the Election Commission postponed polls in this constituency to May 23, owing to instances of large scale seizures of cash meant for distribution among voters and complaints of cash for votes.

Sources said that security personnel were asked to stay in Aravakurichy as the Election Commission has permitted to resume campaign on Monday after 6 pm. District election officials seemed be clueless on the status of polling date and so are the security personnel who are yet to be given any directions on their extended stay.
