Asst labour inspector in dock after seizure of Rs 61K

The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) has registered a case against assistant labour inspector at Ambattur office and five others in the office in connection with the seizure of unaccounted money of Rs 61,000 during a raid last December.

In the FIR, the DVAC has listed assistant inspector of labour Sivaraj, stamping inspector Brinda, and stamping smith Balaji as suspects along with two private individuals who were present at the office during the raid.


The raid was carried out based on information that the officials at the assistant inspector of labour and stamping inspector were collecting bribe in the matter of labour enforcement, renewal of licenses for hotel for labour, checking of child labour deployed in private establishment, stamping of all weights and measures, etc. During the check, the DVAC sleuths had seized cash from desk of various suspects and kitchen cupboard, etc.,DVAC noted.


The DVAC has registered a case under CrPC Section 102 (any police officer may seize any property which may be alleged or suspected to have been stolen, or which may be found under circumstances which create suspicion of the commission of any offence).
