ACP, 4 inspectors among 19 more personnel to test +ve

As many as 19 more police personnel, including an Assistant Commissioner and four inspectors from North Chennai, were confirmed to have contracted COVID-19 on Monday.

The Assistant Commissioner was in-charge for Tondiarpet range, while the inspectors had been posted at Sathangadu, Manali, Ennore and Kothavalchavadi. All of them were involved in COVID duty in the most affected areas in North Chennai, said an official. Manali inspector is a woman. All of them have been admitted to different hospitals and the areas of their residences and police stations have been sanitised.

Among the others, 10 belong to the 13th battalion of Tamil Nadu Special Police in Tirumullaivoyal, who had been posted at Koyambedu vegetable market in April for bandobast duty. The other four belong to the second battalion in Avadi. They had been posted at Madaveli MRTS railway station.

Similarly, Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel posted at Perambu Loco Works railway station have also tested positive.
