Absconding history-sheeter held at father’s funeral near Vandalur

A 28-year-old historysheeter, absconding for more than two years, was arrested by the police when he came to attend his father’s funeral near Vandalur on Thursday.

The arrested, Vinoth of Vivekanandar Street in Manivakkam near Vandalur, has many murder and attempt-to-murder cases against him in Vandalur Otteri, Somangalam and Selaiyur police stations and a few cases for damaging public property in several other police stations. He went absconding two years ago after Selaiyur police registered an attempt to murder case against him. On Thursday, police received information that Vinoth’s father passed away and that he is coming to Manivakkam to attend the funeral.

 Soon, a special team of police in plain clothes reached the funeral site and in the evening, when Vinoth reached there silently and was about to leave, surrounded and arrested him. He was taken to the Selaiyur police station and after an inquiry, remanded in judicial custody and sent to Puzhal prison.
