Conveying this to DTNext, a top official said, “this follows the good response to the existing junctions which exceeded our wildest expectations due to higher sales volumes than nearby private parlours.” Our advantage is that in addition to milk and ice cream we also sell value-added products which private companies do not have them on their list, he added.

Cashing in on the junctions’ popularity, the milk major which started similar ventures in other districts too was overwhelmed by their success. “Madurai is a good example as we initially anticipated a daily sale of Rs 30,000 only. But, today, it has crossed the Rs 1-lakh mark and hence we are delving into the reasons to see if this can be replicated in other districts,” one of the officials said.
