5 with country bombs arrested at gunpoint near Sriperumbudur

A gang of history-sheeters, who were plotting to murder two from a rival criminal gang, were arrested by the police at gunpoint near Sriperumbudur on Saturday.

The police team seized country bombs, machetes and other weapons from their possession. Based on a tip off that a group of criminals were staying at a house in Keelai Nagar, Sriperumbudur, a special police team surrounded the house and arrested five of them at gunpoint. Later, the officials identified them as Vishva (30), Mahesh (21), Balachandar (21), Chandru (22), and Sivakumar (35). According to police sources, the special team found six country bombs, 14 machetes and other weapons from the house. They were then taken to the police station. During interrogation, they reportedly told the police that they were planning to murder two history-sheeters from a rival gang in a few days. All the five have been remanded in custody.
