Muthapudupet police arrested A Ponraj (33) of Avadi for selling gutkha at his shop and seized 128 kg of gutkha from him. Similarly, Avadi police searched a shop at Tirumalai Rajapuram and seized 150 kg gutkha. The shop owner, S Mahendrakumar (33) of Anna Nagar, was arrested.
Meanwhile, Teynampet police arrested a 47-year-old man for selling gutkha at his shop in T Nagar and seized 80 kg banned tobacco products from him. The accused, identified as Mohammed Hanifa of MKB Nagar, was arrested. All the three were remanded in judicial custody.
