In Muthapudupet, police were involved in vehicle check at ANS Nagar on Sunday night when a few men got down from a car and ran away on noticing them. On suspicion, police searched the car and found 7 kg ganja hidden inside. It was seized along with the car and a hunt has been launched for the suspects with the help of car’s registration number.

Meanwhile, Periamet police arrested a 28-year-old man for peddling ganja and seized 2.2 kg ganja and an autorickshaw. The accused S Surya of Perambur was secured near the veterinary college on Sunday morning based on a tip-off and remanded in judicial custody after an investigation.

Similarly, Madruavoyal police secured a 40-year-old man in Valasaravakkam and seized 1 kg ganja and Rs 10,000 in cash. The accused R Kamaraj was secured from a wine shop based on a tip-off and remanded in judicial custody.

Teynampet police on Saturday arrested a trio in possession of 7 kg ganja, five mobile phones, a two-wheeler and Rs 37,100 in cash. All the accused were remanded in judicial custody.
