13 sovereigns snatched from woman

A woman who was riding pillion with her husband on the Maduravoyal to Tambaram bypass on Saturday evening lost a gold chain weighing around 13 sovereigns to snatchers.

Police said Ramesh Kumar and his wife Jayapradha were going to their house in Tambaram. “As they reached the bypass at around 5 pm, two men on a bike snatched Jayapradha’s chain and escaped,” said police. Ramesh lost balance of the vehicle and the duo fell and sustained minor injures. A case has been registered and further investigations are on. Police are collecting CCTV footage.
