GeM bags Rs 7,400 cr orders from TN: Official

CHENNAI: The Government e-Marketplace (GeM) has received orders over Rs 7,400 crore from sellers in Tamil Nadu, a top official said on Wednesday.

In a media interaction GeM Seller Samvad organised with the Press information Bureau, State Commissioner of Treasuries and Accounts Vijendra Pandian said the GeM platform has been operating since 2016 and transactions to the tune of over Rs three lakh cr have taken place.

He said from 2014 till now, Tamil Nadu State Government had done transactions worth Rs 1,108 crore through GeM and over Rs 7,400 crore transactions have been done by sellers in TN across India.

Through such vendor discussions, awareness is being created about doing business in various states including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar outside TN, and the problems and grievances faced by the vendors and how to solve them were explained.

He said small and micro enterprises have got the opportunity to distribute to Central, State Governments and Public Sector Enterprises through GeM Platform.
