Theatre fest: Remembering a classic

Girish Karnad's iconic play Yayati will be staged in Chennai for the first time.

Crea-Shakthi along with Bangalore-based Jagriti Theatre are presenting the play.

Originally written in 1960 when Karnad was 23, Yayati is based on the story of King Yayati in the epic Mahabharata. It was an instant success, translated, staged in several Indian languages and ofcourse announced the arrival of a promising playwright.

The play is directed by Arundhati Raja and is scheduled to be staged on March 16th at Rani Seethai Hall, Nungambakkam.
