Kolkata restaurant refuses to serve driver, faces social media flak

Mocambo, a popular eatery on Park Street in Kolkata is in news and not for a good reason. An old establishment celebrated for its food and ambience, this place has been a landmark which localites and tourists love to visit.

But on Saturday night it refused to serve food to a diner because she was there along with her driver. In a post, Facebook user Dilashi Hemnani claimed that the restaurant refused to serve her driver, who was accompanying her. 

Hemnani, wrote a post on the social media site giving a detailed account of the alleged prejudiced conduct by the restaurant staff. On being questioned about their policies, the restaurant was quoted by various media sources as declaring that they did not allow ‘roadside people’ in to their eatery. 

Her post has gone viral and created a furore on social media platforms, with people slamming the restaurant. At the last count, the post was shared on Facebook about 30,000 times.
