“It was a lot of fun to work with Raiza. She has a good understanding of fashion having been a model for some time now. Also, since the film is urban, I didn’t really have to go through much trouble in putting her clothes together. Her outfits, much like her character in the film, are easy, chic and practical. But yes, I must admit that doing her clothes within a fixed budget was a challenge. I look forward to working on projects that would allow me go the extra mile in terms of doing research – something like designing for a rural film would be an interesting challenge,” says Zafroon.
Zafroon, who was trained in fashion designing in Dubai, says, “I dropped out of the course in the final year. I understood that fashion was much more than knowing the stitching techniques and fabric involved. It’s not something you can read from a book and jump straight right in. It’s an art you learn and develop with practice. So, I didn’t want to waste time in the classroom and I started designing for my family and friends. And here I am now designing for a film.”
About what inspires her designs, she says, “I draw inspiration from everything I see around me.” Talking about the road ahead, Zafroon says, “Digital textile printing is my forte. I will be honing my skills further before opening a boutique soon.”
