CHENNAI: International Tapestry and Paintings Exhibition: Suthra by Tasara, supported by the Alliance Française of Madras, is a captivating art exhibition that is on till September 6.

The journey began with an international residential textile workshop that ran from January 29 to March 3. Over this period, artists from 11 countries delved into the intricate art of creative hand weaving, multi-coloured batik, wooden block printing, shibori, botanical dyeing, felting, and natural dyeing.

This workshop not only honed their skills but also fostered a cross-cultural exchange of artistic techniques. The exhibition's paintings emerged from a two-day international artists' painting camp held at Tasara, coinciding with the inauguration of the weaving workshop.

A diverse group of artists came together to create compelling works of art.

The tapestry collection showcases the talents of Santha K. V. Balakrishnan K. V. Vasudevan V. Kumiko Kawasaki (Japan). The paintings on display feature the creations of Akhilesh Verma Bhagwan , S. Chavan , Pravin Kannanur, Dagmar Wetz (Luxembourg), Kaevin Peter (Luxembourg), Narayanan M. G., Mario Fois (Italy), Virginia Ryan (Italy), and Olga Samokhvalova (Ukraine).
