Actress Rashmika Mandanna, who turned a year older on Tuesday was announced as the female lead of Vijay-Vamshi Paidipally's film. Tentatively titled as Thalapathy 66, the Pushpa actress was confirmed as the film's heroine. "There were several heroines in contention for the movie. Kiara Advani, Disha Patani and Kriti Sanon were some of the names considered to play the film's female lead. However, it was Rashmika, who made it as Vijay's heroine in the pan-Indian project. The film will go on floors later this month," a source in the know told DT Next.

This will be a romantic film and she will play the solo female lead, confirmed the source. "Rashmika is the only heroine in the project and it isn't a double heroine script," added the source.

Meanwhile, the makers also took to Twitter and confirmed that music director Thaman will compose music for the film.
