The fantasy comedy is directed by Delhi Prasad Deenadayal with dialogues penned by Balaji Tharaneetharan. Earlier, the director of the film told DT Next, “I cannot reveal if Vijay Sethupathi is playing a dual role or his character has different shades to it. The poster doesn’t give away the storyline of the film and we have designed it that way.” The director said that the title of the film was inspired by Muhammad bin Tughlaq, the founder of the Tughlaq dynasty. “The emperor is known for his policy swings and Vijay Sethupathi’s character is based on that. Tughlaq Durbar is a commercial entertainer with a blend of fantasy. It has a story backdrop of a political satire. It is about how a decision by a politician changes someone’s life,” Prasad explained. The film also stars Manjima Mohan and Parthiban.
