The lead cast of the show — Leela Samson, Raja Krishnamoorthy (Kitty) and Arjun Chidambaram (who plays the protagonist) — talk about the web series and their character portrayal.
“I liked the theme and moreover, I haven’t done any web series in my acting career. So, when the makers approached me with an interesting script, I immediately agreed. My character’s name is Rangarajan and I play the lead character’s father. He’s got multiple shades — at one level he is a doting dad, yet he has a certain notion of appropriateness which he carries and has a contemporary mindset too. All this combined make my character very interesting,” says Raja Krishnamoorthy.
Leela Samson, who plays Vasantha (Rangarajan’s elder sister), shares, “My character’s thought process is very similar to mine and I could easily relate to it. That’s the primary reason for me to select a medium (web series) that I’ve never tried before. Vasantha is very modern in her approach to LGBTQI issues. She is a strong woman and has a lot of influence on her family, especially her brother. So, when she comes to know that her nephew is gay, she supports him immensely.”
Lead actor, Arjun Chidambaram on his part, says, “I play a character called Ganesh in the web series. He is not your regular American mappillai, he is well groomed and grounded. I was very cautious when I played the role. Because I didn’t want to misrepresent the community and I felt that was a huge responsibility. Playing Ganesh’s transition from a straight person to a homosexual man is not an easy process. There is a huge emotional arch attached to it.”
