CHENNAI: The 36-year-old Karthik has accumulated 90 runs off just 44 deliveries from three unconquered knocks, including an unbeaten 44 off only 23 balls to guide Bangalore to a four-wicket triumph over Rajasthan Royals in Mumbai. RCB was behind the eight ball when Karthik walked out to bat on Tuesday, but the Tamil Nadu veteran turned the tide with ease.

“I felt that I could have done a little better last year. The way I trained [ahead of this season] was a little different. Hats off to the person I train with. He put me through some things which were important for me. I made a conscious effort to tell myself that ‘I am not done yet’,” Karthik said at the post-match presentation.

“I have a goal and I want to achieve something. I tried my best in terms of preparation. In pressure situations like these, the most important things are staying calm and knowing who (which bowler) to take on. That is what I did,” added Karthik, whose previous two years at Kolkata Knight Riders were ordinary on a personal level.

Meanwhile, at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on Thursday, Delhi Capitals would look to return to winning ways when it crosses swords with Lucknow Super Giants.
