CHENNAI: Hours after a war of words erupted in the Lok Sabha over the remark made by the DMK MP, TR Baalu against the Union Minister of State (MoS), L Murugan, the Tamil Nadu BJP on Tuesday called Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin as 'unfit' to be a CM and urged him to resign from the post.

Terming the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK president MK Stalin as unfit to be a CM, the Tamil Nadu BJP's official social media handle, challenged DMK MP TR Baalu, to check whether his leader Stalin is fit to be a chief minister of Tamil Nadu or not.

Condemning Baalu for his remarks in the House, BJP State president K Annamalai said, "TR Baalu is a disgrace to politics and this is not the first time he has made disgraceful remarks about a member of the Scheduled Caste (SC) community. I strongly condemn these remarks on MoS L Murugan in the temple of democracy (Parliament)."

Lauding Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Cabinet colleague L Murugan, the saffron party leader said, "Our PM Narendra Modi is a true champion of Social Justice and has made a member of the Arundhathiyar community a Minister, which DMK could never despite being in the Central government for decades. MoS L Murugan’s unwavering commitment to serving the people and his dedication to bringing a positive difference as a Minister of State has surely irked DMK MPs."

Demanding an apology from Baalu, Annamalai said, "Only an arrogant man like TR Baalu can term a member of parliament and a Minister from the SC community as “unfit” and he has to render an unconditional apology to the people of the SC community for calling their representative “unfit”."

Earlier in the House, a war of words erupted between DMK MPs and BJP MPs over a remark made by DMK Parliamentary party leader TR Baalu against the Union Minister of State L Murugan during the discussion of a question related to flood relief to Tamil Nadu in the Question Hour.

When Baalu started raising a question related to the Michaung flood relief and the accuracy of Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), MoS L Murugan, who also hails from Tamil Nadu, said the DMK MP was asking an irrelevant question.

Subsequently, Baalu made a comment against MoS L Murugan, questioning.
