CHENNAI: In a boost to the DMK-led Tamil Nadu government, the Centre has reportedly has given permission to erect the 'pen' monument honouring the Dravidian patriarch M Karunanidhi.

According to reports, the Centre's approval is only tentative and the project would be greenlit post clearance from environmental authorities and pollution control board.

The monument with a project value of Rs 80 crores is 134 feet long above the ground. A bridge will also run through the monument stretching 650 metres with 290 metres on the coast and 360 metres on the sea.
