Activated charcoal is ‘the new black’ in your food

Known for generations to have the ability to absorb impurities, activated charcoal was used to clean water or in air purifiers. But of late, it has become a household name, often used in beauty products. It can also be consumed due to its multiple health benefits; it prevents chemicals from being absorbed by the body.

Here are a few recipes where activated charcoal capsules or powder can be used but remember to only ingest small quantities.

Avoid consuming it frequently, ensure to drink plenty of water, intake roughly three-four hours after meals and purchase those derived from pure coconut shells that have no additives, fillers or sweeteners.
