North Korea bans laughing, drinking on Kim Jong-il's 10th death anniversary

Kim Jong-il, who ruled the country from 1994 to 2011, was succeeded by present leader Kim Jong Un.

According to residents, all leisure activities have been banned for this period. Residents can't go grocery shopping and the offenders will be arrested as it happens every year, according to reports.

North Korea has planned several events to commemorate Kim Jong Il’s life. These include a public display of his photography and art, a concert, and an exhibition of the ‘Kimjongilia’, a flower named after him.
