At least 32 people were killed in a Saudi-led coalition airstrike on the Yemeni northern province of al-Jawf on Saturday, the Yemeni Houthi rebel-run al-Masirah TV reported.

The victims were killed in the airstrike that targeted a gathering of people at the site where a Tornado warplane of the coalition crashed, the television said.

The television reported that the Houthi rebels shot down the warplane with a missile on Friday.

The coalition said in a statement that its fighter jet had crashed in al-Jawf, the Saudi-owned Al Arabiya television reported on Saturday.

The Saudi-led coalition has been fighting the Iran-allied Houthi rebels since its intervention in the Yemeni conflict in March 2015 to support the internationally-recognized government of President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi.
