Democratic Senator Kamala Harris has said that she will make a decision about a potential 2020 US presidential bid during this year's holiday season.

It will ultimately be a family decision, the California lawmaker told MSNBC's Morning Joe co-host Mika Brzezinski during the 'Know Your Value' event in San Francisco, Politico reported on Sunday.

"And over the holiday," Harris said, "I will make that decision with my family."

The California senator is one of several Democrats eyeing a challenge to President Trump in 2020.

Other possible candidates include Democratic Sens, Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts, Cory Booker of New Jersey, and Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota. Former Vice President Joe Biden has also garnered speculation as to whether he would make a bid for the White House.

Harris, 54, was elected to the Senate in 2016. When she won, she made history as both the first African-American woman to represent California in the Senate and as the first Indian-American senator in the country. Before that she served as California's attorney general.
