Going Viral: Three-year-old’s friendship with garbage man winning hearts

The driver would honk and wave right back with a big smile. Every time she missed him driving by, her mom would follow the truck in the neighbourhood to make sure they exchanged waves. Finally, one Thursday, just in time for her birthday Brooklyn got to meet the man. 

She made a little gift for him – a cupcake that she wrapped herself. She waited near the home with her mom to meet him. When the garbage truck driver saw them he got out and introduced himself. The girl was speechless, her mom said in the Facebook post. “I explained to him that he makes our day every Thursday, and we really appreciate the honking and waving, and how special a day it is for us. He explained that he looks forward to seeing us every Thursday as well. 

He said that he has a meeting every Thursday morning and always tries to get out of there in a hurry so that he can make sure to see us every week. 

I can’t believe that I never got his name, so for now he will continue to be ‘our favourite awesome smiley garbage man’,” she wrote. The man got back into his truck and the mother and daughter went on with their day. 

Brooklyn was very quiet in the car on the way to the daycare, and when her mom asked her if she was OK she said, “Mommy, I’m so happy.” It is definitely the beginning of a beautiful friendship!
