Is deep vein thrombosis (DVT) common only in women? — Venkatesh, a resident of Perambur
While women have an increased risk of blood clots while pregnant or on oral contraceptives, is more incident in men. The most important indicator of DVT is swelling. The vast majority of people feel pain in their leg or thigh, but there are many potential causes for leg pain and not as many for swelling. Another notable symptom is lower back pain in the pelvis area, specifically the sacrum. If you experience swelling and/or pain, go to the emergency room. An ultrasound can diagnose a clot.

How to stay cautious against gestational diabetes during pregnancy? — R Madhu, a resident of Anna Nagar
Mothers need to be cautious of their lifestyle, in terms of the food consumption patterns as the type of food consumed, determines the levels of sugar and insulin being created in the body. The amount of calories consumed by mother each day depends on a number of factors, such as the weight and activity level. Some women are at greater risk of developing gestational diabetes than others. Obesity and family history of diabetes are also a major concern factor during pregnancy. It is advised that mothers undergo continuous tests during their 24th to 28th week of pregnancy to solve all doubts and stay cautioned.
