Give your body much-needed post-Deepavali detox
Starting with Navarathri till the end of Deepavali, the month of October has been filled with festivities and a lot of food. From savoury snacks to plates of sweets and chocolates, we have indulged in all of them. Most of us also end up gaining weight by the end of the month due to serial bingeing. Here are some expert suggested ways to detox your body post the festive season.
Chennai
Eat frequent meals in less portions: Give your body a break from heavy lunches and dinners that you had to be part of with your family and friends. Instead, opt for five to six small meals instead of three large meals. Add buttermilk and fruit in between the meals.
Say yes to lemon: Whether you’re suffering from indigestion after all the laddoos, or feel too bloated with the ghee-rich meals, lemons can be a cure to almost everything related to your digestion. Have lemon juice mixed with lukewarm water in the morning to feel light through the day.
Stay cool with cucumbers: One of the best ways that toxins can exit our body is through urination and there’s no other ingredient that can help more than cucumbers. Either as cucumber water or by consuming it straight, cucumber can help lose excess water from the body.
Honey for the win: For many people, constipation is a huge issue post Deepavali festivities. Honey can help in keeping the gastrointestinal tract clear if consumed regularly. You can add honey to a glass of warmwater with a squeeze of lime if you’d like.
Eat fresh: When you’re trying to detox, it would be helpful for your body to eat fresh leafy greens, vegetables, so that it can be easily digested. In addition to the diet, make sure you move around as much as you can — walk, climb up the stairs and jog a little.
