Summers in some parts of India are unbearable but braving all the odds, Deepika Padukone was shooting in Delhi for her upcoming film Chhapaak. She was taking extensive care to shield herself from the soaring temperature and ever since she started shooting for the film in the capital, the actress was seen drinking one Indian beverage — sattu sharbat.
This cooling drink is popular across the country and has its own variations in states like Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh.
The drink is made with a flour called sattu, which consists of a mixture of ground pulses and cereals such as barley and Bengal gram. It could be served cold as a savoury drink, a sweet porridge or soft dough with which sweets are made. Here’s how you can make a glass of this goodness in your home:
