Ever wondered what would be the fitness routine and diet of a pageant winner?

Soon after completing his Grade 12 exams, Velu joined a gym near his house. “Right from my school days, I was interested in fitness but didn’t have any proper guidance. Four years ago, I met my trainer John, who helped me develop a toned body. Usually, I work out six times a week and mainly focuses on strength training, cross fit and high-intensity workouts,” says Velu, an event management professional.

The 24-year-old also believes that people should take care of their health from a young age. “Most of us give priority to our health when we fall sick or when we are diagnosed with some problem. That’s not the right way to treat our body. Eating well and exercising when you are a teenager would help you stay healthy later in life. If you aren’t really fond of hitting a gym, you can pick up a sport and practise it daily,” he shares.

Following a healthy eating pattern is equally important. “You need to count on calories and avoid sugar and spicy foods. A handful of dry fruits daily would ease your metabolism,” he says. Velu also believes that meditation and yoga calm the mind and relax the body.
