What are the precautions one must take to avoid contracting any air borne disease?
- Jayarani M, Resident of Alandur
While it is the season when many contract air borne diseases, it is important to take some precautionary measures. It is important to avoid close contact with those who have active symptoms of disease. In case you are sick, it is best that you stay indoors and wear a face mask. Something that not many follow besides being aware of its importance is the need to cover your mouth while coughing or sneezing with a tissue paper. If you sneeze or cough into your hands, you must wash your hands and avoid touching the face or other people with unwashed hands.

What are the foods we can eat to get all the nutrition?
— Karishma T, Resident of Guindy
There are plenty of nutrient-rich, locally-grown foods that are super pocket-friendly and will forever change your relationship with food. Firstly, proteins; they build every cell, muscle, hormones, antibodies right from your skin to hair. Great sources of protein are quinoa, sattu, milk and milk products, kidney beans (rajma), lentil (masoor ki dal), oats, chickpea (chole), barley (jau), egg whites, fish, meat and chicken. Then there is the carbohydrates which are vital to maintain a regular source of food for the brain and CNS (central nervous system). Fats too are important as they support in vitamin and mineral absorption, blood clotting, brain development, building cells, and muscle movement.Â
