    During her modelling days, Priya Thalur Balaji didn’t take fitness in a serious manner. But after giving birth to her son, Priya realised the importance of fitness in life.

    In a chat with us, Priya talks about her fitness routine and the importance of health and fitness in today’s day and age. “I started working out to shed that pregnancy weight and I lost weight in a few months time. After a point, I realised that it’s not about size zero or losing weight; it’s about being fit and healthy. That should be our priority in life. I haven’t stopped working out since then,” she says. 

    Priya likes to work out in a gym almost every day. “Exercise is great not only for a person’s physical well-being but also for their mental health. It made me feel so good — endorphins did all the work. You will feel more energised throughout the day” says the wife of cricketer Lakshmipathy Balaji.

    People who are addicted to exercise may feel angry or depressed if they miss their workout and Priya, too, often feels the same. “Most of the time, my husband bears the brunt. I feel grumpy and irritated if I haven’t done any exercises. If am unable to go to the gym, I do light training at home.” 

    If her cricketer husband is in town, they both play either tennis or squash. “Indulging in any kind of sport helps your body function smoothly and more efficiently. Playing a sport also helps you realise your strengths and weaknesses. Thankfully, Chennai has got a lot of good acadamies and state-of-the-art stadiums.”

    Followers are impressed by her fitness videos on Instagram and used to be in touch with her for advice. “Though I am not a fitness expert, I give them certain suggestions. They love to hear my weight loss story. There’s no greater joy than inspiring people,” she smiles. 

    When it comes to fitness, size doesn’t matter at all. “In today’s day and age, what matters the most is being fit and healthy. There is no secret way to achieve them. You shouldn’t ignore the importance of fitness. If you are fit, then you can even conquer the world. Fitness, along with proper nutrition, is important for maintaining a healthy lifestyle.”
