Fitness Mantra: Sneha vouches for the goodness of yoga
Rain or shine, this dedicated bunch of fitness enthusiasts in the city doesn’t like to miss their workouts. Jumping on the fitness bandwagon is our own Punnagai Arasi, actress Sneha Prasanna. She wasn’t really a fitness freak until she realised how physical fitness plays a crucial role in one’s lives.
Chennai
“I work out four times a week — I love doing weight training, cardio and yoga. The duration of each depends on how much time I have in hand. If I don’t work out, I feel dull. So, I try and make sure to do some forms of exercises. Even though I want to focus more on my fitness, my son, Vihaan and professional commitments keep me busy,” she tells DTNext.
Sneha prefers to exercise from home — “When I started working out a couple of months ago, I was following a vigorous routine. I think I was very much obsessed with losing my pregnancy weight. Later, due to my commitments, I couldn’t spare enough time for workouts.
Having said that, I try and practice yoga daily — it’s an incredibly effective method that trains my mind to stay calm. I can easily feel the difference when I do yoga and when I am not.”
She prefers weight training at home, combined with simple squats and exercises for arms and waist.
“Thanks to my trainer — he sends me a simple work out chart on WhatsApp that I can easily follow,” she explains, adding, “I wanted to try either badminton or squash. Playing any kind of sport is a great way to keep your body fit.”
The Vasool Raja MBBS star clearly doesn’t believe in dieting.
“I am a foodie and I love to try different cuisines. Our lifestyles have changed tremendously and I don’t think it’s possible for many of us to follow a particular diet pattern. We have a diet-obsessed culture and sometimes it feels scary when we say that we don’t follow any diet pattern. I believe in healthy eating principle — replace saturated fats with good fats, include a lot of vegetables, drink a lot of water and importantly, eat your meals on time. This doesn’t only apply to older people but applies to all age groups. You need to follow a healthy diet that keeps you full around the clock. I work out on empty stomach and it has worked for me,” she states. Sneha loves to take life as it comes and doesn’t make any big plans/decisions.
As a parting note, the actor says, “This is my small piece of advice for youngsters. As Mark Twain said, ‘The secret of getting ahead is getting started.’ So, stay focused, start your workout and lead a healthy, positive lifestyle.”
