Ocular tuberculosis is a term that is being heard a lot today. What is it?

    - Sujata B, a resident of Kellys

Apart from the lungs, one of the organs that is affected due to tuberculosis is our eyes. The prevalence of ocular tuberculosis is very high in India. In a month, out of 20 patients that we treat, at least one patient is diagnosed with ocular tuberculosis. Ocular tuberculosis can manifest in multiple ways and if not treated at the right time, it can lead to loss of vision. The condition can be caused by the M. Tuberculosis bacteria spreading from the lungs to the vascular layer of the eye through the blood stream.

I heard that too much lemon juice is harmful. What are the side effects?
    - Aarathi P, a resident of Shanthi Colony

Consuming too much lemon juice per day causes your teeth to have a constant amount of acid washing over them. This will erode tooth enamel and make your teeth extra sensitive to hot or cold foods. It may also trigger heartburn or make the condition worse if you’re already facing the problem. Also, in rare cases, lemon water might have a diuretic effect. Lemons have a high content of Vitamin C or ascorbic acid.
