The north Indians and the south Indians are different culturally, but they are almost similar as well as diverse when it comes to keeping fit while travelling, a survey has revealed.
Mumbai
Running is the favourite fitness activity of 94 percent travellers from the north and 80 per cent from the south, according to Hotel.com’s survey – The Rise of Activacation. The survey was conducted among 8,400 adults across 28 countries, by OnePoll between March 31 and June 21, 2017.
“We love that people are seeing sport as a way to have more rewarding holiday experiences. There’s been a real evolution in holiday priorities and millennial travellers in particular now demand more from a trip,” Hotels. com Director, Regional Marketing Greater China, SEA and India, Jessica Chuang said.
She said social media plays a key role too, as young travellers want to share their life at the touch of a button, and fitness is the latest trend they’re embracing and instagramming. “Fitness options are now so important that millennial are choosing hotels based on how they will help them keep fit on vacation – and hotels are really upping their game,” she added.
The survey further revealed that 51 per cent travellers from the northern part of India have a preferred holiday fitness regime, like working out in the hotel gym, while 53 per cent travellers from the south would go for meditation. While 60 per cent north Indians prefer gym facilities in a hotel, 50 per cent travellers from the south like the same, it said.
The survey also found that 50 per cent travellers each from both the regions like posting fitness pictures on social media. About 80 pc travellers from the north as well as the south prefer quality fitness facilities over quality of food, the survey said.
