Madras Dyslexia Association (MDA) will celebrate Dyslexia Week from August 14 to 20. As part of this event, MDA is conducting various contests for dyslexic children from various schools to showcase their talent and create awareness about the condition.
Chennai
MDA is a non-profit service organisation established to take a pragmatic approach to helping children with dyslexia. MDA will organise contests including art from waste, fire less cooking, kolam making, dance and painting for dyslexic children.Â
By observing the Dyslexia Week, MDA intends to spread awareness about dyslexia and tap their hidden potential that often goes unnoticed. For the uninitiated, dyslexia is a language-based learning disability.Â
During the school years, dyslexia can impact academic success in a typical learning environment. It is a hidden disability and a dyslexic child is often misunderstood to be lazy, stupid, obstinate, and having an attitude problem as he or she does not perform at class level, doing what she or he is expected to do.
