The new COVID cases went up in Chennai for the second consecutive day, with the city reporting 164 cases on Wednesday, up from 139 on Tuesday and 122 on Monday.
According to a Chennai Corporation official, less than 350 COVID-19 patients are admitted at the COVID care centers.
Greater Chennai Corporation Commissioner Gagan Singh Bedi has said that the corporation has already ordered for oxygen concentrators and 2,700 of them will reach the city soon.
He said the hospital has been turning away several Covid-19 patients for want of beds with oxygen supply facilities.
The Chennai corporation has appointed M.A. Siddique, Secretary, Commercial taxes as the Covid monitoring officer of the Greater Chennai Corporation.
